The Potlatch Man

This figure has two completely different images on each side. The arms are also carved. This totem is  referred to as a "Potlatch Man" figure. The pole is 10'4" tall, 3'1" wide, 8" thick through the body, and has a 12" thick base. The condition of the figure and paint is great, as it has been kept inside for most of the last 90 years. The Potlatch Man was carved by Sam Williams, a Nootka carver, shortly after the turn-of-the-century for Daddy Standley, founder of "Ye Old Curiosity Shop".

This is the most amazing and historic totemic carving to be sold in a century in Seattle, plus a Bella Bella Totem with original pictures of Daddy Standley next to it in the shop!
